Laci Coppins

Laci Coppins is a photographer, mixed media, and installation artist working primarily with themes of faith, family, and inter-generational connections. Born in Tucson, Arizona she received her BA from Fisk University in English, a Post Baccalaureate in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography from Studio Art Centers International, and both a Masters and Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University. An extensive background in educational pedagogy, Coppins has experience as both an elementary school teacher and principal. As the Vice President of Education with SHARP Literacy, Coppins works collaboratively with area educators, Museum professionals, local organizations, and surrounding school districts of south-eastern Wisconsin. Further she develops programs and curriculum as related to the Common Core Standards for PK-5 education and professional development workshops for both preservice and inservice teachers. In conjunction with special programs, Coppins has participated as a guest artist and lecturer with Alverno College, the Milwaukee Art Museum, Marquette University, and Northwestern University. She was an artist in residence with REDLine, Milwaukee and most recently was named the 2014 Robert S. Duncanson Artist in Residence at the Taft Museum of Art.
