10th STREET GALLERY ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM | Apply now for a free studio work space!!

10th STREET GALLERY ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

We are excited to continue our Artist-In-Residence Program. This collaborative studio facilitates the need of artists to complete a specific project that requires a studio space within Milwaukee’s active artist community. Four tenant artists will be selected through an application process.
This incubator program will allow the artists to generate art in a nurturing, unrestrictive, creative environment. The Gallery Curator will teach artists about the business aspect of the arts and creative industries such as contracts, installation, marketing and sales. Each artist will exhibit one solo exhibition in the gallery throughout the year and instruct students for our high school workshop series as well as present an artist lecture to the general public during their exhibit opening. These activities will serve to hone the artist’s teaching and public speaking skills. Resident artists will also work as a team, with up to four artist-in-residents, creating a collective final exhibition.
Artists working in various techniques and mediums can apply to become an Artist-in-Residence at 10th Street Gallery. Residency applications are accepted one time per year. Artists who apply for residency should be familiar with teaching art workshops and giving artist lectures. Considerations for acceptance are conceptual creativity, technical knowledge, and need for workspace. 10th Street Gallery encourages use of both traditional and new technologies.
Resident artists receive an all inclusive shared studio with 24-hour access with individual storage space, exposure in 10th Street Gallery’s website, exhibitions at 10th Street Gallery, and participation in teaching classes inside an artistic community.
Please note that this is a studio residency only; housing is not included. Artists are responsible for finding their own housing.
