Arts on Point: Gallery Weekend | "More art galleries per resident than Santa Fe, New Mexico"

June is busting out all over just a scenic 2 hour drive south of Milwaukee in the lively historic artists community of Mineral Point, Wisconsin during Arts on Point Galley Weekend, June 1-3. With a population of just 2600, this architectural and cultural gem has 22 art galleries featuring regional, national, and international artist. That's more art galleries per resident than Santa Fe, New Mexico, considered one the nation’s finest art destinations. During the 3-day art-filled event there will be show openings, artist receptions, demonstrations and hands-on experiences with guest artists at many of the galleries, open till 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday til 5pm. One will encounter strolling musicians on the streets, intriguing shops, live music and improv performances in the evenings, "The Pines" at the Opera House, Improv, a quirky art parade with some unexpected surprises, the classic film "Casablanca" on the big screen, "Casablanca" specials at some of the restaurants, an 80's dance party, free art workshops for kids, an organic farmers market, a chance to add your own art work to a community mural, historic tours, and more. June 1-3 is a great time to plan an art experience in friendly, inclusive Mineral Point "one of the 20 best small towns to visit" according to Smithsonian Magazine.
