Breakfast with the Author | Atlanta Author to come to Milwaukee to discuss the issue of Bullying

Jacqueline Brathwaite, Atlanta resident and author of B is for Bully will be the featured speaker at the Breakfast with the Author event Saturday, May 5th. Brathwaite will discuss the issue of bullying and why she was led to write this children’s book. The event is being sponsored by Meet the Author with Heddy Keith, Milwaukee Writer’s Circle, and Bese Saka Performing Arts Academy.

B is for Bully is not your typical bully story that narrates the victim’s experience about being bullied or focuses on the stance from the bully’s perspective. Instead from the beginning, the reader is given a clear picture of what bullies are like, who bullies bully and why bullies bully, ending with how to seek help from bullying. B is for Bully uses clear and straight-forward language that any child can understand. Furthermore, the rich illustrations by Gabhor Utomo on the cover and throughout are immediate attention grabbers among children, parents and teachers, making the book an engaging learning tool both at home and in the classroom.

Jacqueline desires to not only entertain readers with her stories but also to teach and affect children from an early age and to inspire parents and the rest of the community to address the seriousness of this social issue before it reaches a critical level.

The author believes more books like this that teach about social issues in an engaging manner are necessary in bringing awareness and thereby solutions, at an early age. For more information about the author, visit her website at www.jbrathwaite.com.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 5th at the Hilton Garden Inn Park Place, 11600 Park Place from 9:00 a.m. There will be door prizes, entertainment, and a scrumptious country buffet. Parents, teachers, religious or community leaders, community learning center staff, youth, and church youth leaders should attend. All proceeds go to Milwaukee Writer’s Circle to continue their mission to encourage and support writers. Tickets are $25.00 and must be pre-paid. For more information and, or to pre-register go to www.meettheauthor.org or contact Heddy Keith at 414-241-2563.
