Hiring College & High School Interns, Lead Artists for Summer 2016! | A.W.E.'s summer positions are a great PAID opportunity to use your creative talents to impact the lives of Milwaukee children while inspiring and renewing your artistic perspective!

We are hoping to build diverse teams of artists who are dedicated to community outreach and who enjoy working outdoors with community members from a different backgrounds. Bilingual English-Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.

A.W.E. is hiring:

High School Interns (part of the MPS Arts Internship program)
To apply for the high school internship you must meet all three qualifications:
- Be at least 16 years of age at the start of work,
- Be currently enrolled in high school,
- Be a resident of the City of Milwaukee and/OR attend an MPS school

College Level Interns
Creative, adaptable and dedicated community artists with some experience and/or those working toward degrees or coursework in Studio Art, Art Education, or Art Therapy. Applicants who already have experience working in urban environments and with children are preferred.

Lead Artists
Professionals with teaching experience at the K-12 level either in schools or in the community-at-large. Degree in Studio Art, Art Education, or Art Therapy is preferred but not mandatory. In addition to significant experience working with children, Lead Artist candidates must have prior work experience supervising others in a structured way (management experience) on their résumé.

About A.W.E.'s Truck Studio Program
Artist Working in Education’s Truck Studio program provides meaningful, drop-in art enrichment activities free of charge to children ages 4 – 14 in underserved neighborhoods. We present programs on site to help participants become more inquisitive, creative, flexible, imaginative and confident while fostering a sense of community among children, artists and Milwaukee neighborhoods. The Truck Studio consists of a fleet of brightly painted vans stocked with art supplies and staffed by teams of one Lead Artist, two college-level Interns, and a high school Intern. Collectively, the Truck Studios will visit approximately 18 Milwaukee parks and playgrounds on weekday afternoons from noon to 3 p.m. for six weeks from June 27th through August 5th, 2016.

Timeline & Commitment
Mandatory paid training for all staff takes place June 20th - 24th in the afternoon. The Truck Studio program will run on site from noon - 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, June 27th – August 5th (except July 4th). Applicants must be available to work every day of training and programming.
