Intensive Three-Day Live Portrait Workshop with Stuart Fullerton Aug 24-25-26 9am-4pm Take a big step up in your portrait studies with this three-day intensive portrait workshop. The first day will be devoted to solving some of the recurring drawing issues that come up in portraiture, using gesture and comparative measurement to capture the solid features of the head and placement of the features. Using vine charcoal or graphite pencils, students will learn to draw the biggest parts of the head first, using the hand mirror and a plumb line as invaluable tools. Mapping the shape of the shadows on the face and blocking in a solid dark mass, students will proceed to modeling the portrait using light and dark. The remaining two days will be focused on painting the model's portrait in oil. Using a standard palette of colors, we will explore the warm and cool relationships in the portrait, building on the value relationships we learned in using black and white. I will demonstrate on at least two of the three days in the morning. A live model will be present for all three days. Expect to work hard, learn a lot, and have a blast! Stuart Fullerton grew up in Wisconsin and today he paints in Chicago, where he also works full time. He is a long-time member of the Palette and Chisel Club and of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago. Stuart is on the board of the Palette and Chisel and the Oil Painters of America. Stuart has been invited to numerous national plein air festivals, including the ones in Sonoma, Door County, and Carmel. He has been juried into the OPA national show and the American Impressionist Society national show, among others. Supply list available online. $328 CCC Members/ $389 Non-Members
