artist statement

I am a city dwelling landscape painter who focuses on urban greens. My current long term project is to paint all of Milwaukee County’s 158 parks and 11 parkways. As the prophet Jeremiah wrote, I “seek the welfare of the city” in which I have been placed, delighting in its wealth of green spaces. Small scale, peaceful oil paintings created on site at beloved Milwaukee parks such as these can hardly be called activist, but they're certainly advocates: works of art responding to a cultural, natural, and civic inheritance worth preserving.
