artist bio

Carley Knight was born on the East side of Milwaukee in 1986. She has been making art for as long as she can remember. She considers her creativity a gift passed down from her mother's side. She recalls her grandmother teaching her needlepoint and her mother teaching her to knit as a child.

Although she have always had a love for the arts, for the longest time fear prevented her from pursuing it. It was only after graduating from college in 2010 with a degree in linguistics and no good prospects for a job that she decided to take the plunge to go back to school for visual art in order to gain the skills she needed. In the spring of 2014 she left art school to pursue a career as an artist.

Since the spring of 2014 she has concentrated on building her body of work. Her work been featured at the Warped show, the Jazz gallery, and the BVAG show. She has shown at the Sparrow Collective and Hummingbirch gallery. In 2015 she was selected to be partnered with a MARN mentor.

Carley uses a variety of media, from fibers to metals to digital. She explores through the use of abstract forms many issues, one of which is connections.
