artist statement

As an Artist Valorie utilize both sculpture and photography to express my art. Both have allowed her to view the people of world in fragments assigned to cultures, ages, gender and moments in time that define these. Valorie is always in awe of people and the opinions that make them tick; not that she want you to get her version of life but rather Val wants to understand yours. So for one moment in time she really sees you as a fragment that belongs to a whole and put that in clay or onto film.

Recently her work explores the nature of women, how we see women and how women are a reflection of men, our society and culture. The Strong Woman Series is a collection of faces within sculptural ground that symbolizes the various moments in ones lives, cultures and history. The strong Woman Series has received 11 awards over the last year. Val¢ï¿½ï¿½s Photography is culturally based and covers both her ancestral home lands of Italy and Ireland. Her work has been exhibited across the nation and in Italy.

Valorie Schleicher a sculptor and owner of V.L. Schleicher Sculptures LLC an individual artist committed to the exposure, and enrichment of the arts in the areas of kids, community and culture. Over the years she has not only pursued her art full time, she has purposed, organized and executed a number of community events that enriched the lives of each of these. As an Artist Valorie believe that her contribution to the community and society not only comes from her work, but also her activities bringing avenues for others, to emerge, participate and promote the Arts.
