artist statement

Surrealism and the human figure have always been an interest of mine in my work. I have looked to such painters as Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali for inspiration. I have always enjoyed the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated elements in a work of art. In photography, I am drawn to such artists as Sandy Skoglund, Jerry Uelsmann, and Arthur Tress.
I am often investigating the theatrical effects of combining both natural and artificial lighting. My hope is that my images give a glimpse into a narrative and present questions about reality.
