artist bio

Megan McDonald (born in 1988 in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin) is an American artist based in the Milwaukee area. She graduated in 2011 with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in visual art with a concentration in painting and drawing and a minor in art history.

In addition to working with various traditional drawing, painting, and printmaking mediums, Megan also incorporates graphic design and digital photography in her body of work. Megan’s work is inspired by philosophy, history, symbolism, mythology, folklore, and the relationship between mankind and nature. Many of her pieces are based on collage and contain a range of styles (sometimes within one piece) from minimal to intricately detailed.

Megan has exhibited her work in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Detroit and has a piece in the permanent collection of the Nek Chand Rock Garden in Chandigarh, India. Her work has also been published in Color Inspirations by Darius A. Monsef IV and Collectively Bound: 2009/10 UWM Art Collectives by John Dorn of Collectively Bound.

Megan McDonald currently works as a graphic designer and marketing consultant. She started her own business, Megan McDonald Art & Design, in early 2012 after two years of freelance work. She has created logos, branding, websites, signs, flyers, multimedia packaging, and textiles for a diverse clientele, which includes international companies Solar Integrated Systems, Iraq Global Technologies, Sultan Solutions, and local bands.
