artist bio

Bachelor of Science - Art from University of Wisconsin Madison

Art Director/Graphic Designer for The BonTon Stores 16 years

Independent Jewelry Designer/Photographer on/off 25 years

Lived in 2 other countries: England and Costa Rica which influence my work in sometimes subtle ways

Inspiring/educating is something that is important to me so even if I'm not actually doing art you can bet I am teaching someone something or researching.

artist statement

Being creative can be a challenge especially when you are torn between making money/raising a family and doing things that inspire you, they don't always go hand in hand. I've worked around this by making a living and then doing what inspires on the side, needless to say I'm still in the beginning stages of an "art career" even though I've had creative jobs for quite a long time..
I attempt to teach/inspire those around me whenever the chance arises whether it's art or science or good design. If I find something I think is interesting I share because it's likely someone else will find it inspiring as well.
My art is very much about capturing things I fancy from day to day. Nature plays a large part of my life so being outdoors happens often. One day I may be pencil drawing a still life in my living room or designing a trellis for the garden, the next it might be designing a necklace to go with a specific outfit for a night out. Another day may find me roaming around the area taking photos. My gammut is wide and my interests are varied. Does that make me unusual? I sure hope so!
My most recent work encompasses acrylic paintings from photos that my oldest son has taken. Inspired by his views I decided to attempt to recreate what he saw in my own way. I am really enjoying the challenge.
