Phantom Cicada Theater

history

Phantom Cicada Theater (PCT) grew out of the SummerStage, an outdoor performance space in Lapham Peak State Park, Delafield, which was founded by Brian Faracy in 2006. The name comes from the threat of the 17-year cicada that emerged as Faracy was planning the inaugural SummerStage production, THE MAN WITH THE PLASTIC SANDWICH, in June of 2007. Outdoor venues and events to the south of Delafield were being moved into July and August, daunted by the possibility of a million giant bugs per acre singing their mating song during performances. PCT was named when the insects never arrived in Delafield.

mission

Phantom Cicada plans to continue producing at venues like SummerStage, Irish Fest and the nascent Delafield Arts Center, as it has in previous seasons. The goal is to produce mainstream theater and compensate cast and crew.
