May Klisch's journey from the Far East through the Pacific Rim to the American Midwest forms the wash upon which the tapestry of her life is painted. In her native Singapore, she had worked in public relations including four years at the Singapore Zoological Gardens; in Honolulu, Hawaii, she garnered a degree in Hospitality Management and in San Francisco she ran a boutique hotel and then worked in reinsurance with a Xerox subsidiary. She took what she thought would be only a year-long government relations position in Milwaukee in the cable industry in 1992 but soon met her future husband Russ Klisch at a beer event six months in; together they have nurtured two daughters (now aged 18 and 21) and his business, Lakefront Brewery. In the last 9 years, May had also been the Operations Manager of North Point Lighthouse. Now, along with her passion in the other creative arts (cooking, gardening, fiber design, jewelry, lamps, creative writing and event management), she has added a love for watercolors. She has most recently exhibited and sold her watercolor work at the MKE Swan Day at the Red Line Studio. No one is more surprised than she is that she now has a hand for watercolors; she attributes this development to inspiration by and encouragement from her talented artist friend Julia Taylor, and unconditional support from her husband, daughters, friends and family. Her subject matter, drawn mostly from nature, has at once an earthy and ethereal quality, often accompanied by a healthy side of whimsy.
