artist bio
Full time artist. Oil , acrylic and watercolor painter, mixed media maker, sculptor and educator. Art degree from Loyola Marymount, Los Angeles in 1998. Representational and abstract. I teach painting and mixed media. Member of NOAPS, Rogues Artist Group and League of Milwaukee Artists.
artist statement
After receiving my art degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, I studied five years with artist Mario Rueda. He taught me to see shapes, value, planes and of course, light. My mission is to make my art my own. After working from photos for many years I am moving away from realistic images to abstract, mixed media, and painting from life.
I can’t believe how free this makes me feel. This journey has sent me to encaustic wax, gels, layers and pattern and I add that to my love of oil paint. Color plays an important role in my new pieces. I’m exploring how colors play against each other in harmony or in opposition.
I now teach painting classes and mixed media classes. I am having fun mixing my painting skills with mixed media. Looking forward to where the journey takes me.
