Bridget Griffith Evans is devoted to figural representations, seductively underpinned by vibrant colors and hints of mystery. Her still lifes often feature solitary objects grounded in spaces built from luminous veils of rich, saturated hues. Her stark images occupy their spaces with substance and weight, perfectly blending recognizable contours and lyrical brushwork, while retaining an ethereal nature created by emphatic washes of color. Her portraits share these same riveting qualities, with protagonists who acknowledge the viewer with shadowed eyes and a keen sense of awareness.

She has been strongly influenced by painters associated with the Bay Area Figurative Movement of the 1950s and '60s, including David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, and Nathan Oliveira. Their strategies of objective painting combined with flourishes of expressive brushwork formed lasting impressions. The still lifes of Wayne Thiebaud, with their richness of color and frequently delectable sweets, have also inspired her style and choice of subject.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bridget still calls the city home. Her career started there more than 20 years ago when her painting talents landed her local and national exhibits, while still in high school. She studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, earning her B.F.A. in 1994. Her work has been shown throughout the U.S. and Canada, including exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, and Milwaukee. Today, her work is included in private and public collections.
