• “Family Tree”

  I recently finished a very special project for my clients who were celebrating the birth of their 2nd grandchild. This artwork is mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas, the dimensions are 36"x48". Here is their testimonial below: “When each of our grandchildren were born, my husband and I wrote a family history with stories of 5 generations of relatives with photographs, as a way of welcoming the newest member to the family. Adria assembled all this information into beautiful books and created a family tree which is a work of art, hanging in our home. artist bio

I am a mixed media artist and have been creating art for as long as I can
remember. Since childhood, growing up close to Lake Michigan and the Schlitz Audubon
Nature Preserve, I have had a deep appreciation for nature which has served as a
constant theme throughout my artwork. I find daily inspiration for art where I live, on a
partially wooded lot within walking distance to the Schlitz Audubon. While I have
worked on many mediums such as watercolor, oils, acrylics, textile over the years, the
current focus of my work incorporates mixed media. I enjoy the process of using upcycled
materials to create fine art.

artist statement

Since childhood, growing up close to Lake Michigan and the Schlitz Audubon Nature
Preserve, I have had a deep appreciation for nature which has served as a constant theme

I use nature to depict my feelings for family, children, life cycles appreciation of our
environment. I find daily inspiration for art where I live, on a partially wooded lot within
walking distance to the Schlitz Audubon. While I have worked on many mediums such as
watercolor, oils, acrylics, textile over the years, the current focus is mixed media. I enjoy the process of using up-cycled materials to create fine art. In my current series of work, I will incorporate many up cycled materials which include textiles, various paper (tissue, newspaper etc.), metals and other materials. I will use magnets and other movable objects that allow the art viewer to adjust this piece in a manner they desire.

The theme I wish to cover in my artwork is building a relationship between the artist and
the viewer. I hope that the person seeing this piece will be able to interact with the 2-D artwork in a way that allows them use their creativity as well and make artwork in the process.
